"It's hard writing in the office and I constantly find myself hopelessly driving around, looking for a good, inspiring place to work. theOfficeTM seems to be a Godsend. Finally I'll have a destination."

- J.J. Abrams (creator/exec. producer "Alias" & "Felicity")
Aleks Horvat spent years trying to prime his creative juices by writing at local coffee houses in Los Angeles. At first, he found the experience so exhilarating that he wrote the screenplay "Sweethearts" (starring Janeane Garofalo), which he went on to direct, using a coffee house as the backdrop for the story. Unfortunately, there was a downside to all of this. Horvat nearly ruined his back from sitting for extended periods of time on the cheap wooden chairs, somewhat souring the experience of using a coffee house as his inspirational workspace.

Hence was born the idea for theOfficeTM.

Interior designed by Serena Walther Leventhal, with furniture and finishes designs by Tony Schubert and a good dose of Feng Shui by Master David Cho, theOfficeTM is everything a creative workspace should be and serves as the ideal backdrop for people who want to focus and feel inspired. Amenities include a reference library, state-of-the-art ergonomic furniture, including Aeron chairs and single seating tables and comfortable sofa chairs with writing tablets. In the library are copies of Dictionaries, Thesauruses, various reference books, plus Daily Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, Los Angeles Times and New York Times. Tech services include a T1 line for Wi-Fi and plug-in access to your laptop computer, a community computer for those who didn't bring one and want to check their email or go on the internet, and if you want absolute silence, or want to plug in to your own sound system, Bose Noise Reduction Headphones are available. There's also an "It Was Written Here" wall (think Hollywood Walk of Fame) where future works written at theOfficeTM will forever be enshrined with a plaque on the wall.

Last, but certainly not least, theOfficeTM features an Acorto coffee machine, which, with the touch of a button, makes regular coffee, as well as incredible lattes, perfect cappuccinos and aromatic espresso. The best part, the coffee is also complimentary. Plus we also offer teas.

A number of well-known entertainment industry professionals, who support the vision have become Charter Members of theOfficeTM: J.J. Abrams, Mara Brock Akil, Chris Henchy, Blake Herron, Jennifer Klein, Carol Leifer, Dan McDermott, David McKenna, Scott Rosenberg, David Self, Jim Uhls, Sheldon Turner.

Aleks Horvat
Founder

Chilean born Aleks Horvat is an entrepreneur and a screenwriter whose filmmaking credits include "Campus Man" (RKO/Paramount) which he co-wrote with Matt Dorff, and the independent features "Kissing Miranda" and "Sweethearts" (Lions Gate), both of which he wrote, produced and directed. In 1987, Horvat created the Hollywood Creative Directory (HCD) because he needed a list of names and addresses where he could submit screenplays himself. What began as a fluke venture, the HCD has become one of the entertainment industry's most well known brands. Thirteen years later, Horvat sold HCD to Ifilm. Horvat earned his B.A. from U.C.L.A.
